About Voz Frontera

Voz Frontera is THE electronic synthpop band from Southern California. The band was formed by friends C.S. Rynne and Eddie Arcadia in high school. Their sound has elements of the synthpop groups of the 80s.

"Voz Frontera" means "Frontier voice" in Spanish.

Where are you from?
Yurécuaro, Michoacán, Mexico.

What was your first musical instrument?
A Casio keyboard.

What artists or bands are your musical influences?
Rock: Scorpions, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Cure. Synthpop: Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, OMD.

Explain the name of the band "Voz Frontera" Why that name?
Because of the geographical area where we live (Tijuana-San Diego).

How did you meet each other? An ad on the internet.

What is your favorite food?
Beef and vegetable soup, carne asada tacos, fish and seafood.

What is your favorite beer?
Dos Equis Amber, Tecate.

How do you feel about the state of modern music?
Few good alternatives.

Do you speak English? Do you sing?
Yes. A little bit.

What do you like to do outside of music?
Write

Do you write music? What is your process for writing a song?
First I experiment with beats and drums, then I add musical melodies.

Where are you from?
Los Angeles.

What was your first musical instrument?
A Casio CZ-101. And a piano, because I had access to a piano, but I didn;t like lessons and found I preferred to sing along to the radio.

What artists or bands are your musical influences?
Oh wow! Ok, well.. Pet Shop Boys, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Joe Jackson, George Michael, Daft Punk, Moenia, movie soundtracks...

Explain the name of the band "Voz Frontera" Why that name?
Because we try to be the avant-garde, trying new things, pushing new frontiers of music and sound.

How did you meet?
An ad on the internet.

What is your favorite food?
Hahahaa... Machaca and eggs, Won-ton soup, and the occasional tongue taco. :-)

What is your favorite beer?
Pacifico.

How do you feel about the state of modern music?
Oh please don't ask me that. I honestly don't listen to the radio, I live in my own universe.. and ultimately what I've heard.. everything sounds the same with few exceptions.

Do you speak English? Do you sing?
Yeah, English was my first language. Yeah, for now I'm the singer in the band, singing is one of my favorite things to do in the world.

What do you like to do outside of music?
Ohh, well.. videography. Write scripts and visual art. Flight simulator. And every now and then a trip to lose myself in nature.

Do you write music? What is your process for writing a song?
Yes! I enjoy writing new songs, melodies, things like that.
